“Katherine was AMAZING throughout the entire process! She was so willing to be flexible in our plans and patient with us as we decided on a date that worked with our family. She has such a kind spirit and felt as if she was a part of our family on our wedding day. We are so happy to have had her there for us. She explained every step so thoroughly, maintained great speed in her messages back and forth with us, and was overall the most thoughtful person for our day.”

“My husband and I can’t express enough how wonderful Katherine is. She is one of the nicest and sweetest people you will ever meet. She made everything so easy and simple for us. She helped us create an incredibly meaningful, customized ceremony that helped reflect both of our backgrounds… Hindu and Christian, while also focusing on us and our love for one another. Katherine was a pleasure to work with from the moment we met her. Throughout the entire process, Katherine was responsive, attentive and offered feedback on all the questions we had.

Katherine was so engaging and all of my guests felt so comfortable in her presence. She helped guide our ceremony with perfect ease and confidence. Katherine is one of those people who will have an incredibly calming effect on you and any worries or concerns you may have she will quickly take care of. Every time I started to feel overwhelmed or anxious, I could just look at Katherine and she helped make me feel relaxed again.

All the big and small details that come with getting married were made so easy with Katherine’s help and guidance. Katherine did a great job of reminding us about everything throughout the process and even emailed us after our wedding to help with the next steps of changing my name, etc.

The ceremony was exactly what we imagined and everyone in attendance said it was the most unique, heartfelt wedding they have ever been to. We obviously couldn’t have done this without Katherine and we are so lucky to have met her. She helped make one of the most important days of our lives so very special. We will never forget how much she cared in making our day so memorable. We can’t thank her enough and know that you won’t find another officiant as sweet, caring and helpful has Katherine.”

“Katherine gave a beautiful ceremony! We got married during hurricane Matthew and she was still on top of her game, even though we were frantically changing the location of the ceremony. She was so warm and friendly from the beginning and very responsive to any changes throughout the process. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about her and so grateful she was part of our special day!”

Katherine was excellent to work with and we highly recommend her to anyone looking for an officiant in the triangle area. Although we decided to use the pre-written ceremony templates she has, rather than a custom ceremony, there were so many different combinations to choose from that we were able to compile a unique ceremony that fit us as a couple. Not only was the ceremony beautiful, Katherine also quickly stepped in to coordinate our rehearsal when we had a bit of a hiccup with planning.”

“What can we say about Katherine? Simply put, she is amazing! She impressed us at our first meeting. But she went beyond our expectations by presenting us with options so that we could literally “build” our ceremony to reflect our own personal tastes. On top of that, she gave us both questionnaires that we were told to fill out separately and not share with each other. With answers to those questions in hand, she created a very personalized ceremony, telling a funny and poignant story not only for our guests to enjoy but also for us to be able to hear what each of us had shared with her in a wonderful fashion. This was perfect for us…reading our own vows would probably have had us each in tears! And while it was Katherine who took our words and put them into a beautifully written ceremony (yes, she made us cry anyway!), she managed to capture our deepest feelings and put into words what would have been very hard for us to articulate in the moment. We would highly recommend Katherine and are honored to feel like we did not just gain an officiant, but also a newfound friend!”

“I am certain we found the perfect person to marry us! Katherine was so kind and so patient. We had SIX kids in our wedding party, and she remained cool and calm through the craziness that comes with children in a formal event. She was patient with all of our questions and desires to do things a little different at times, even when the temperature outside reached ridiculous heights. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking to marry. Her guidance and support makes the process seem easy! Thank you again, Katherine!”

“Katherine was fantastic. We were struggling to find just the right person to perform our ceremony and she over-delivered. She was recommended by our our wedding host and exceeded our expectations. Her words were sincere and memorable. She made our guests feel welcome and part of the ceremony. We would highly recommend her for your special day and wish her the best going forward!”

“Katherine was incredible to work with! From the moment we met, it felt like we had known her for years! We had an out of the norm request for our wedding – it was a surprise to all of our guests! – and she was on board from the start! She was super flexible and understanding in our ceremony plans (which included her hiding in a small office with my soon to be husband while our guests arrived). I can’t say enough great things about her! Without hesitation, I would recommend her to all future brides!”

Kelly & Forest at the Stockroom 230

Kelly & Forest’s original plan for their ceremony was to have it at Umstead Park in Raleigh and have their reception at the Stockroom 230 downtown after. The rain back up plan would be to hold everything at the Stockroom and a few weeks prior to the ceremony they decided to just go ahead and do that. That ended up being a really good decision, as it was raining most of the afternoon!

Secretly, I was kind of happy about that because I have done ceremonies at Umstead Park in the past, but the Stockroom was one of those venues I hadn’t seen yet and I really wanted to check it out! It is a really neat industrial-looking space with exposed brick, wood floors, and beam ceilings. There is plenty of room for both ceremony and reception, and a little landing area that’s perfect for cocktail hour.

Another neat feature at the Stockroom is the Glass Box on the top floor of the same building that can be rented as well. It can be used for smaller events, bridal luncheons, showers, or as a changing area for the bride and her ‘maids. That is what Kelly did!

There were lots of lovely details throughout their ceremony and reception spaces, but I particularly loved the chalk wall! The bridesmaids walked in to the Etta James version of, “I Want a Sunday Kind of Love,” so this was really perfect. Plus, it was a Sunday! The chalk wall was done by AB Chalk Designs.

Kelly and Forest included some really cool elements in their ceremony, including a presentation of roses to Kelly’s mother, a sand ceremony, and a shell wishing with a twist. Since we weren’t at the beach to toss the stones into the water, guests instead collected them in a large glass vessel that the couple could display in their home!

Kelly & Forest’s best man and maid of honor signed the license following the ceremony while guests mingled for cocktail hour.

The couple was kind enough to leave this review for me on Wedding Wire:

“Katherine did the best job for our wedding! She was so easy to work with and so helpful in planning and answering all our questions. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a wedding officiant on their big day. She had the best attitude and all our guests commented how great of a job she did. Thanks again Katherine for everything!”

Tracy & Robert at Pullen Park

I am so very lucky to work with some really great couples. I connect with so many of “my” couples on a personal level and their excitement for the wedding and love for each other are contagious!! Imagine being so lucky, getting to experience that kind of joy almost every single weekend! That being said, some weddings just hit me a little deeper. And Tracy and Robert’s ceremony at Pullen Park was one of them.

When we met back in February, these two knew what they wanted… something sweet and simple, an intimate ceremony with mostly family, and something that would include their 5 children from previous marriages.

It was a beautiful April afternoon when we gathered at the gazebo in Pullen Park Lake for their ceremony. I arrived early and helped hang some decorations and set up the sand ceremony. If you are trying to count all the vials in that picture I will help you out – there are 8! One for the bride and groom, one for me to pour “foundation sand,” and one for each of the 5 kids. Sand ceremonies are an awesome choice for including kids in the ceremony. It is such a visual representation of the blending of the families, and I think most kids like getting their own color of sand!

They chose a pretty coral color for their theme and Robert surprised Tracy by renting a tux with coordinating vest. She thought he would be wearing a suit (and he had actually joked he was going to wear shorts and a t-shirt… men!). They didn’t see each other before the ceremony, so after Tracy made her entrance over the bridge it was sweet to see her reaction to Robert!

Shortly after the ceremony began I saw one of their 9 year-old twins start crying tears of happiness. Now, I tear up in ceremonies pretty often. I’m an emotional person and like I said, I get wrapped up in the all the happiness and joy! But this was more than that. I was fighting back tears as I could feel the love so strongly between not just the bride and groom, but from all of their children, and their family and friends that were there to share the moment. It was truly beautiful!

After the ceremony their two witnesses signed the license, while the couple and family did their formal photos. My favorite of the pictures I took that day was the moment below with the 4 youngest kids (Robert’s oldest is grown and married) watching the ducks in the lake. These kids have gone from great friends to brother and sisters, and that is a very special gift their parents have given them!
